About

Hello there! My name’s Elena Devos. I’m a writer, translator and journalist of Russian origin living and working in France.

For as long as I can remember, I have always liked telling stories and playing with words. My first stories were published in children’s magazines  in Russia. When I was in my early teens, I worked for a bilingual teen magazine and a radio programme for teenagers. Since then, I have never left the media world – I enjoy writing articles as well as translating texts or interviewing people. I received my masters degree in journalism from Moscow State University before obtaining my PhD with a thesis on Nabokov’s works  from the Russian Academy of Science.

I believe the best thing you can do with your knowledge is to share it, so I started teaching literature and languages during my last years at University. In France I have collaborated with several language centres, schools and universities and helped organising seminars and conferences on literature, languages and journalism.

My poetry and prose have received awards in UK, Italy and Russia and my first novel, Russian Lessons was published by RIPOL Classic in 2016.  Another novel, The Piano Key, was published in 2018 and my third book, Pegasus Meat,  is now in production. My literary agent is Banke, Goumen & Smirnova.
